Pursue, Protect, Achieve

Dear Cornell Engineer,

We are facing difficult times like no other. No aspect of our lives are immune from the effects of coronavirus. Online classes, social distancing, mask-wearing have become a part of our daily routine. I hope we can return to normal soon, but until then, we just have to make the best of these circumstances.

With everything constantly changing, you would like a steady hand to be there to pursue much needed SA reform, protect your rights as a student, and achieve more. For the past three years, I have been at the forefront of student issues, from investigating pre-enroll to identifying serious problems with SA culture. It would be an honor and privilege to receive your vote in the upcoming SA elections.

Take care and stay safe.

About Me

Born and raised in New York City, I am the oldest son of two Nigerian parents. I attended Bronx Leadership Academy, a small school in the south Bronx, where I graduated near the top of my class and was the first from my school to attend an Ivy League University.

At Cornell, I became a Computer Science major because I desired to impact others through technology and deepen my knowledge of coding and algorithms. In the Summer of 2018, I became an RA for the Summer College program, helping high school students achieve their academic goals.

In my sophomore year, I became involved with Underrepresented Minorities in Computing (URMC), a group for URMs in CS and related fields. There, I advised students on how to succeed at Cornell and guided them on the challenges URM students face in STEM fields. During this time, I also became an Undergrad TA for intro-level physics courses.

In the Summer of 2019, I was a Software Engineering Intern at Amazon, where I developed the UI for an internal tool that allows multiple applications to work together using JavaScript, React.js and some HTML. I learned more how to write software for people and not just for myself.

In Spring of 2020, I became a TA for CS 3410, where I assisted students with the transition to remote learning due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the summer, I became more involved with SA Reform, consulting with other SA members and community members in  to determine a long-term path to a more democratic environment.

Currently, I am still TA for CS 3410 and you can catch me on Zoom on Mondays from 8-10pm.
